Save me a place> Mono mind’s seductive robo-rap

Mono Mind Melds Hit

Mono Mind Melds Hit:Save Me A Place

If you haven’t heard Mono Mind’s hit “Save Me A Place” you haven’t been listening. At least not  to pop/dance radio or the popular download sections of major music sites. The song which is the first hit of the ‘mystery’ band Mono Mind combines robo-rap verses with a seductive female chorus of high plaintive pleas and soft whispers. It turns out to be a good combination: the song has hit #2 on Billboard’s dance charts and #1 on many of the those download sites. I must admit I was taken by it when I first heard it..the chorus made me think of sexier Ellie Goulding(is that possible?:)). The sounds of this female voice is in high contrast to the electro-robotic  rap of the verses. You take notice and want to listen again-what else should a song do? The chorus itself would catches a lot of attention as some of the comments on the song’s Youtube site confirm but the parts make the whole a whole lot greater.

To the mystery of the band : a quick Google search finds that the female singer is Helena Josefsson which solves one half of the mystery of the band…the other half is Per Gessle formerly of Roxette. Although these two are credited on the song the Mono Mind website  describes itself as a “musical laboratory where anything is possible”. It goes further to state it is based in Sweden-home to Josefsson & Gessle-but claims collaboration from anywhere as its space so there is still some mystery to what might come in the future. Whatever that future holds  I hope it includes more of the enchanting voice of Josefsson but at any rate it appears Mono Mind has saved themselves a place in their listeners’ attention.
